Hawaii, one of the best vacation destinations for families, especially those with kids.
However, with plenty of family-friendly activities, the planning process can get overwhelming. What activities will the squirts enjoy most? What won’t break the bank? For your next family vacation, use our family-friendly guide to a Hawaii vacation with kids!
Planning an Affordable Hawaii Vacation with Kids
Hit the free Beaches
Hawaii has some of the finest stretches of sand in the world, and your family vacation should include a visit to one of its many beaches. We recommend beaches that have calm ocean conditions, such as The Lagoons at Ko Olina, Lanikai or the Hilton Hawaiian Village lagoon. If you do decide to go to a beach more known for its surf, please be aware of the water and use caution! For a great day of sun, sand, and fun the beach is always the best option.
Explore the skies with a Discount Helicopter Tour
There is no better way for you and your family to see everything Hawaii has to offer than a helicopter ride. With many tour options across the islands, this is definitely a can’t-miss experience. For the best family experience, we advise our Hawaii Circle Island Experience. You will see everything from Kilauea Volcano, to 10 of the world’s 13 climate zones on your ride! These experiences can book up quickly, so if you are thinking of doing this with your family, book sooner rather than later.
Visit Sea Life Park
Sea Life Park is a great way to experience all of the sea life Hawaii has to offer. Home to dolphins, sea lions, turtles, sharks, and native fish, here you can get up close to these amazing animals. Exhibits are designed with little ones in mind, and include a lot of interaction and great view points. Coupled with talks and interactive experiences, this is a great experience for the whole family.
Experience a Traditional Luau
A great educational experience on Hawaiian culture is participating in a traditional luau. One of the best for children is definitely Disney Luau Ka Wa’a. This luau includes cultural activities like lei making, tattooing, and poi making. Located at Disney’s Aulani, this luau also includes a visit with Moana.
Ka’ena Point Trail Hike
Activities around the islands can rack up quickly, which is why we have included this last great option, a short hike to Ka’ena Point. The trail itself is nice and flat, with views of the ocean. It leads you to a fenced off area where seals and nesting albatross live. Even with the fence between you, and the wildlife, you still feel very up close and personal. This trail also has the added bonus that you can see migrating whales off of the coast in the spring and fall! A great addition to the end of a trip if you need a little more Hawaii before departure.
These are only a few of the activity options for your Hawaii vacation with kids, and we encourage you to go out and explore the islands as a family! Did you have an amazing experience with your family that we need to include here? Let us know!
